The resort of Valtournenche

Valtournenche, a small village in the Valle d'Aosta, is the ideal destination for a winter sports holiday in a picturesque setting at the heart of a vast ski area. Valtournenche: Valle d'Aosta traditions guaranteed Valtournenche, nestling in northern Italy on the border with Switzerland, is a ski resort with an authentic character. Perched at an altitude of 1,524 metres, Valtournenche features traditional chalets on the mountainside, facing the imposing Matterhorn. It's easy to find a stay in the village centre for easy access to the slopes, or enjoy a relaxing stroll to the far end of the ski area.

Skiing in Valtournenche

With 53 kilometres of pistes, the Valtournenche ski pass promises superb skiing. The blue runs cover a total of 16 kilometres, the reds 35 kilometres and the blacks 2 kilometres, to the delight of all skiers, whether beginners, intermediates or experts. A play area has also been set up in the ski area so that children can learn the rudiments of snow. For cross-country skiing, there are 3 rings in the Champlève district. Thanks to the Cervino Ski Paradise ski area, you can also venture onto the ski slopes of neighbouring resorts: here you have 360 kilometres of pistes that take you up to an altitude of 3,899 metres and to the Plateau Rosà glacier. The resort is also a rendezvous for freestyle enthusiasts, who can try their hand at a boardercross and a 4-hectare snowpark.

Activities in Valtournenche

Valtournenche is a prestigious ski resort in the Aosta Valley and has developed a wide range of activities. The excellent snow conditions in the ski area mean you can go snowshoeing, try your hand at mountaineering and go out with sled dogs. Other fun options during your stay include ice climbing, ice skating and a visit to the ice grotto on the ski area's glacier. If you're passing through Plan Rosa, be sure to visit the museum dedicated to the history of Le Breuil station. Après-ski in Valtournenche is a quiet affair, but there are several bars and restaurants where you can spend a convivial evening. For good places to go in the resort, head to the tourist office in the centre of the village.
