A friendly and active ski resort, Chamonix is also a wonderful playground for children. In the winter, the smallest ones can take their first tries at skiing from age 3 years with specialized instructors from the French ski school, ESF, but they can also enjoy other activities such as snowshoeing or dog sledding... To encourage the discovery of the Chamonix ski area’s numerous possibilities, the resort is organizing Festi’Nordic, several days dedicated to Nordic activities where families can try out different sports free of charge: biathlon, skating, snowshoeing, dog sledding, ... So, Saturday January 26, 2013, in Chamonix, try out Nordic skiing in workshops and get professional advice. An area will be set up for the children. It will also be possible to try out ski-orienteering with a treasure hunt where everyone will be invited to track his/her itinerary from signpost to signpost, on and off the trail; to try out the biathlon which combines the pleasures of skiing with the precision of shooting; or to associate the positive effects of gentler activities with the discovery of the mountain by trying Nordic walking or snowshoeing... A professional musher will be on hand to share with the children about his passion for sled dogs. It will also be possible to participate in numerous other activities: igloo and snowman building contests, sledding or learning about best back-country ski practices... A festive day whose keynote will be discovering Nordic activities in Chamonix!
