February has always been a great month for skiing and this year, abundant snowfall in the French Alps makes the French resorts even more attractive. Val Thorens at 7500 feet is the highest ski resort in Europe and the highest resort in the 3 Valleys ski area and the largest ski resort in the world with over 375 miles of runs and 200 ski lifts. Need we go on? Located in a vast natural cirque, Val Thorens offers exceptional snow coverage and breath-taking views with 8 skiable peaks and passes at over 9800 feet. The ski-in, ski-out resort offers something for everyone from the beginner to the most experienced of skiers, boarders and telemarkers.
But there’s more to the resort than world-class skiing. On February 14, Valentine’s Day, enjoy the Lucky Balloon launch whether as a family or a romantic couple – heart-shaped lanterns will be set off into the night sky bearing messages and thoughts of love. February 21, families can enjoy “Les Ecolopoux”, an ecologically correct puppet show for children that will improve their French skills while they also learn important lessons on recycling. The kids are sure to enjoy it! And later in the month, a racier event is available to Val Thorens visitors: the Mini Mountain Tour from February 23 to March 10. On a testing centre installed on the Tourism Office snow front, visitors can see demonstrations of the 4-wheel drive Mini Countryman van while enjoying Happy Hour with a DJ and hot mulled wine!
