Flanking the cliff, the Croix du Nivolet ovelooks Chambéry. The hike involves some climb but the view is definitely worth it! The view from the top stretches from the Ain to the Alps, including the Chambéry valley.
Park in the Lovettaz car park to shorten the approach and follow the signs. The usual itinerary includes a final section with a few ladders and a life line, however you can make a detour through the Doria Pass so you can keep both feet on the ground !

Overlooking Annecy, Mont Veyrier offers a magnificent view over its turquoise lake. This hike is easily accessible and offers a breath taking panorama of the Annecy valley. Start from the Petit Port if you have half a day to spare or start from the Col des Contrebandiers to shorten this beautiful hike.

The Lac d'Asti is a glacier-fed lake located in the Queyras, on the Italian border. This high mountain lake is easily accessible from the Agnel Pass road. Its moon-like landscapes, slate gray rocks and turquoise lake make it a very special and unusual place. The hike isn’t signposted but you can follow the GPS track below.
350 meters climb (allow 2 or 3 hours) Lake Asti GPS track.
This route is perfect for a sunny Sunday and will show you the full range of colors this place has to offer. A beautiful signposted path will take you through larch forests, past refuges before finally reaching the Lac Laramon and the Lac Serpent. Final surprise before contemplating the stunning view over the Ecrins. If you want to make it last a little longer, you can walk as far as the Lac de Gardiole, the highest of all three lakes.
8 km and 600 meters climb (allow 6 hours) Lac Laramon and Lac du Serpent GPS Track.
This is a wonderful hike near the Spanish border, close to Bagnères-de-Luchon. It follows the famous GR10 (hiking trail crossing the entire Pyrenees range, along the Spanish & French border). You will admire lovely forests, cross streams and enjoy the many viewing points on surroundings. GPS track below.
9 km and 400 meters climb (allow 3 to 4 hours) GPS track for the Cigalière trail.
The trail of Les 12 lacs du Carlit is in the western Pyrenees and will take you to the small lakes (called estany) around the Lac de Bouillouse. The trail is a medium difficulty loop that can be extended to the Carlit peak for a better view! It includes beautiful forests and lakes that are well worth seeing.
