In January, the world’s most difficult sled race launched by Henry Kam and Nicolas Vanier seven years ago, will make a new halt in Megève. Experience the Grand Odyssée in Megève!
Since its creation by Henry Kam and Nicolas Vanier and its first edition in 2005, the Grande Odyssée Savoie Mont Blanc has become a true event, the most difficult international dog sled race in the world because of the mountain terrain it crosses. Each year, the race brings together 20 of the best mushers in the world, who race the 1000 kilometres crossing through the Savoie and Haute Savoie regions of France. For this 2012 edition, the opening ceremonies will be held in Samoëns on Saturday, January 7, 2012, and for the first time, the sleds will progress through the trails of the Grand Massif which becomes an event partner.
On January 12, 2012, the Grand Odyssée will make a stop in Megève, for the Megève Challenge which will take place in front of the Sports Centre and will offer the race participants a unique 5 kilometres course. It promises to be a grandiose show for young and old in Megève, an exceptional opportunity to dialogue with the mushers and to approach the 250 sled dogs that make up the teams. Surprising demonstrations will take place before the Megève Challenge.
