The La Tania ski resort was once a small village located midway between Courchevel and Méribel. The name La Tania means the “bear’s lair” in the local Savoy dialect because of the numerous bears that used to roam through the Tarentaise forests. Installed at 4600 feet altitude, the resort opened in December 1990 and became an Olympic village the following year for the Alberville Olympic Games. It’s a small-scale resort, totally car-free whose wood-covered buildings add to the environmental quality and integrate into the surrounding landscape: the chalets’ style is inspired by the traditional architecture of the Savoy villages.
This year, the La Tania ski resort opened for skiing on December 15 so skiers could throw themselves onto the slopes of the Vallée de Courchevel ski area, 93 miles of downhill slopes with 62 lifts so skiers can ski. Beginner skiers will get their bearings in the Zen zones, fun areas reserved for apprentice skiers so they can glide in complete safety and master the slopes with the 27 green and 44 blue trails. More seasoned and veteran skiers will throw themselves down the 38 red and 10 black slopes and put their technique to the test! The resort has a Skimium partner ski hire shop available for all: book your ski equipment online... skis, boards, helmets, ski shoes for adults and children. Take advantage of brand-name equipment that is recent and maintained by mountain sports professionals. Skimium discounts can go up to -50% depending on your ski hire period. With Skimium and its partner shops, your ski equipment is waiting for you at the bottom of the slopes!
